New Yorkers for Growth is an organization dedicated to the renewed economic prosperity of the Empire State. www.newyorkersforgrowth.com. We are a group of public-spirited citizens who have come together in order to support candidates for state and local office who recognize that tax reduction, spending restraint and economic reform are key ingredients to the prosperity of our citizens.
To that end, we have created a political committee, registered with the New York State Board of Elections, to make contributions to candidates who are truly committed to reform and fiscal responsibility. In particular, we believe that a school property tax cap is key to stemming the tide of people who are leaving New York State because they can no longer afford to stay here. So far, we have endorsed two candidates, one for the State Senate and another for the Assembly, and we urge you to join us in providing them with your financial support.
Mayor Liz Feld of Larchmont is running for the State Senate in Westchester County against an eleven - term incumbent. Mayor Feld supports a property tax cap, modeled after the successful Prop 2 1/2 in Massachusetts. She also has been a strong voice for fiscal reform in Albany and has shown a willingness to take on both Democrats and Republicans over the State's wasteful fiscal practices.
Assemblyman Mike Fitzpatrick is already a member of the legislature, but he is mostly outnumbered by those who simply go along to get along in Albany. He is someone who truly stands out, by willing to question legislation routinely advanced to benefit special interests. Mike Fitzpatrick deserves our financial support so he can continue to advocate sound financial practices at the state level. There is no doubt that the special interests hold too much power over the fate of legislation in our state capitol. That is why concerned citizens need to make their voices heard in support of candidates and incumbents who are doing the right things on behalf of taxpayers.
